FAQ

Our production and print partners are operating and open. They adhere to strict OSHA and CDC guidelines and protective measures and sanitize their facilities daily. Lead times are longer than usual and may take longer to arrive.

Depending on the size and format of your purchase, your artwork will ship in one of the following ways:

Ships in a protective tube
This item will arrive rolled in a dent-resistant tube. This method is especially safe for oversized works, and provides lower shipping costs as well. Rolled works can be easily stretched (for canvas works, i.e. placed onto wooden stretcher bars) and/or framed by a local framer upon arrival. Upon immediate delivery, we highly recommend you send any works on paper directly to your framer for cautious, professional unrolling of the artwork.

Ships in a cardboard box
This item will ship flat in a sturdy, well-protected cardboard box. We work with our artists every step of the way to ensure artworks are shipped according to our very high standards. Expect your artwork to arrive with plenty of support packaged in to make its journey as safe as possible as it travels from the artist’s studio to your home.

Ships in a crate
This item will ship in a wooden crate. Large artworks are shipped in a very sturdy crate that is built for shipping art all around the world. The crate will contain packaging materials that meet our strict guidelines to keep it firmly in place during its journey, and will be tightly sealed together.

Unpacking

When you unpack your new artwork, take care to carefully remove from it from any packaging or archival bag. This is to protect it. It’s best to leave the piece in any of its protective material until it is framed, since touching it can transfer oils from your hands to the paper which could cause discolorations over time.

Framing and Matting

For long-term preservation, it’s best to frame your artwork with a matte so the painting is not situated directly against the glass. This allows it room to breathe and prevents humidity pockets from developing. In addition, consider choosing a frame with UV protective glass to prevent harmful UV rays from fading the artwork.

Depending on the size and format of your piece, most professional framers will provide their suggestions consistent with your personal tastes, decor preferences and complemnetary to the piece.

For standard sized prints or other common sized pieces – the following guidelines may prove helpful

Print fulfillment companies are a dime a dozen these days. However, very few print companies support the high standards required for the designation of “fine art,” which actually means something. It refers to true museum quality archival prints. Fine Art Giclée Prints, as they are known (also referred to as Archival Pigment Prints) are printed by state-of-the-art equipment, using pigmented inks onto museum-quality, 100% cotton rag archival fine art paper or canvas. I spent many months researching this and appropriate printers.

I was fortunate enough to discover a wonderful husband and wife owned company here in Atlanta that has been in the fine art printing business for over 30 years. They were extremely helpful, kind, informative, and supportive in my research process. They helped me to properly capture my artwork in order to print at the highest quality standards. Their procedures, knowledge, and workflow have been tested, evaluated, and has subsequently qualified them as a Hahnemuhle FineArt Certified Studio, one of fewer than two dozen in the United States.
