From the original, “After graduating from college in 2008, the economic and credit crisis in the United States hit. As a result, I took a proverbial ‘hit’ professionally and consequently, personally, with devastation after devastation. I found myself in a dark place.
I began this piece during that time as a way of expressing my attempts to ‘stay on track’ with life while being bombarded from all perceivable sides. I contributed to this composition over the next three years, incorporating many of my life’s events into the layers of color and hue. The depths in this piece also reflect a portrayal of my inner paradigm that I began to explore through my study of dream analysis, particularly with reference to Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung.
The piece’s intentionality is “unfinished,” as I believe our lives are unfinished projects themselves.”
